Workshops:
An important element of MensSana's work involves engaging directly with young people and their key contacts, in order to raise awareness of mental health issues and services and promote positive mental well-being amongst the future generation. A workshop entitled Provoking Thought is being delivered in schools, colleges, youth and community settings a key aim of which is to challenge the stigma and misconceptions that are still associated with mental health.

AMH MensSana currently offers workshops to:

• Young people in post primary schools

• Youth Sector – church/community settings

• Parents/carers

• Teaching staff
Post Primary & Youth sector workshops
We offer a programme for post primary and youth sector which is made up of two different age appropriate presentations. Project staff provide an interactive presentation to enhance understanding of mental health and highlight its relevance and importance for the young people's lives using a DVD. Group discussion provides an opportunity to reflect on major sources of stress and identify possible coping strategies. During the latter half of the workshop young people will have an opportunity to view a personal disclosure – a story about Austin’s experience of mental ill health and how, with appropriate support, he now leads a stable and fulfilling life. (You can read Austin's story by clicking here)

This is followed by an engaging and thought-provoking piece of drama - a monologue - which recounts some of the famous people throughout history who have experienced mental ill health.
Parents/Carers & Teaching Staff Workshop
Workshops for teachers, non-teaching staff and parents/carers will improve your understanding of mental health, mental ill health, key conditions, signs and symptoms and promote early intervention.

All workshops take approximately 1 hour (depending on numbers in groups) but can be tailored to suit particular needs of school/youth/community setting when required.
